By far, the most important aspect of any weight loss exercise plan is that you actually get off the couch and do it. To this end it is best to ease into any new workout program so as to avoid injury or burnout.  Start by slowly adding activities, such as walking for ten minutes, jumping rope or playing basketball with your kids.  If you own a smart phone or a mobile device, a number of free or very inexpensive apps are available to guide you step by step to the process of establishing a workout routine.  Adults should aim for at least two and a half hours of exercise every week depending on health status.  Activity should be done for at least 10 minutes at a time and should be spread throughout the week.  Ideally, adults would do aerobic activities, like walking or swimming at lease three days a week.  And strengthening activities, like weight training or yoga, at least two days a week. Talk to your healthcare providers about exercises that are safe for you, and then try different kinds of activities until you find ones you like.  After all, if you don’t enjoy it, you won’t want to do it regularly.
