澳大利亚科研人员发现治疗青光眼的新方法
New Treatment of Glaucoma Was Found by Australian Researchers.
澳大利亚麦考瑞大学科研人员发现人体内天然存在的一种蛋白质能预防青光眼,但是这种蛋白质会因年龄增长和疾病等因素影响而日渐减少。如果能找到让该蛋白质持续存在的方法,就有可能开发出治疗青光眼的新途径。
According to the researchers of Australian Macquarie University, a kind of nature protein within human body can prevent glaucoma. However, this kind of protein decreases because of aging and diseases developing. New treatment of glaucoma can be developed if this kind of protein can exist for longer time.

这一发现发表在近期的英国学术刊物《科学报告》上。文章详细介绍了这种名为“神经源性丝氨酸蛋白酶抑制剂”的蛋白质特性,并证实该种蛋白质可抑制称为纤溶酶的酶活性,保护神经元或神经细胞免受纤溶酶诱导的损伤。该蛋白质对人类视网膜的健康至关重要,它可以调节视网膜中其它酶的活动状况,帮助预防青光眼。随着年龄增长、疾病和吸烟等环境因素变化,这种蛋白质的数量会不断降低,导致视网膜和视神经受到损害,从而使患青光眼的风险上升。
The new find was lately published in the English academic journals Scientific Reports. The journal reported the characteristics of the protein called neuroserpin in detail and testified that this protein can inhabit the activity of fibrinolysin, so the neuron can be prevented from the injury induced by fibrinolysin. This kind of protein is vital to human’s retina. Because it can adjust the activity of other enzymes within the retina and help to prevent from glaucoma. However, with aging and environmental changing such as diseases developing and smoking, the amount of this protein decreases, leading to the damage of retina and optic nerve. As a result of that, the risk of glaucoma could increases.

这项发现使医学界对青光眼的病变机制了解得更加清楚,并可能因此找到治疗青光眼的新方法。研究人员正试图利用基因工程技术改造这种蛋白质,使其能够更耐氧化,从而能持续存在于眼睛中,抑制有破坏性的酶类,实现保护视力的目的。
This finding makes the pathological mechanism of glaucoma be comprehended clearer by medical community. Thus, new treatment for glaucoma could be found. Researchers are trying to use genetic engineering to improve this protein, which could increase its capacity of oxidation-resistivity. Then, the protein can exist constantly within eyes and inhabits the activity of destructive enzyme, so the vision could be  protected.

青光眼是眼内压间断或持续升高而导致的一种眼病,它会造成视神经损伤,进而导致视力下降甚至失明,但目前关于发生视神经损伤的精确机制医学界尚未探索清楚。据研究人员介绍,澳大利亚是青光眼的高发地区,每 100 人中就会有 2 人患青光眼,超过 80 岁的人群中有八分之一的人会得青光眼。这一科学发现将为全球众多的青光眼患者带来新的治疗希望。
Glaucoma is a disease caused by the incontinuous or continuous rise of intraocular pressure, which results in the damage of optic nerve, and then the decreased vision and even the loss of vision. The accurate mechanism of optic nerve’s damage is sill unclear for medical community. According to researchers, in Australia, glaucoma is one of the most prevalent diseases. There are two persons developing glaucoma in every a hundred persons. For people over 80 years old, one eighth of them suffers with glaucoma. This finding would bring new treatment for patients with glaucoma.
